General Questions

What is an escape room?

You and your group are placed inside one of our immersive, movie-quality themed rooms. The only way out is by cracking codes, solving puzzles, and uncovering hidden clues — all within 60 minutes.

Are your rooms suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Our state-of-the-art Auto Help System allows us to adjust the difficulty of any room on the fly, so whether it is your first escape room ever or your fiftieth, Game Over Calgary works for you. Most first-timers have a great time and come back to try the other rooms.

Will there be strangers in our room?

Never. All bookings at Game Over Calgary are 100% private. Your group always has the room entirely to yourselves.

What is the age limit?

Players aged 16 and over can participate without an adult present. We recommend ages 12 and above when accompanied by an adult. Younger children are welcome as long as they are supervised by an adult throughout.

Booking & Payment

What is the cancellation policy?

We require 48 hours notice for cancellations. If you give us notice of at least 24 hours, we can move your booking to another date or time, but we are unable to issue a refund but in certain circumstances we can offer game credits.

What if one of my friends cannot make it?

You can replace them with someone else, but we are unable to issue refunds for no-shows.

I want to book for 6 people but do not want to pay for everyone upfront.

No problem at all. You can pay for however many players you choose at the time of booking and simply add the remaining players and pay for them when you arrive.

We are a group of 8 — can you accommodate us?

Yes. While 6 players is our recommended optimal group size, we regularly accommodate groups of 8. Give us a call and we will recommend the best room for your group.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes — gift cards are available to purchase online through our website and in physical gift cards that you can purchase in store.

Are phones or cameras allowed inside the rooms?

No. Electronic devices, photography, and videography are not permitted inside the rooms. This protects the experience for all future players.

Do you do team building events and birthday parties?

Yes — we love both. We do not have a dedicated food room on site, but we are right next to several restaurants and Sunridge Mall is only a 3-minute drive away.

Additional Questions

What happens when a group does not escape — is there a reveal, a debrief, or a walkthrough?

If your team doesn't complete the room within the allotted time, your game host will provide a debrief at the end of the experience. If you'd like to see how the remaining puzzles work, we can also offer a walkthrough of the unfinished sections, time permitting.

Can bookings be made same-day, or are walk-ins accepted?

Yes. Same-day bookings are welcome, subject to availability. We also accept walk-in guests whenever possible, although we recommend booking in advance to guarantee your preferred room and time slot.

What payment methods do you accept (credit card, debit, Apple Pay, cash, etc.)?

We accept: Credit cards, Debit cards and cash. If you have any questions regarding payment, please contact us before your visit.

Is alcohol permitted before or during a session?

No. For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, guests who appear to be under the influence of alcohol may not be permitted to take part in the experience. Alcohol is not permitted during any escape room session.

What should guests wear or avoid wearing?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for moving around and solving puzzles. Please avoid: muddy or heavily soiled footwear, and high-heeled shoes. Comfortable, flat shoes are recommended for the best experience.

What happens if someone experiences a medical issue or panic mid-room?

Guest safety is our top priority. Several members of our team are trained in first aid and are available to assist if required. If a guest feels unwell, anxious, or wishes to leave the room at any point, they can exit immediately with assistance from our staff. We have a comfortable reception area where guests can rest, and we are happy to provide water and support while they recover.

How early should guests arrive before their booked time slot?

Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled game time. This allows enough time for check-in, waivers, payment (if required), and your pre-game briefing, ensuring your experience starts on time.

Are your bathrooms and entrance accessible for guests with reduced mobility?

Yes. Both our entrance and bathroom facilities are accessible for guests with reduced mobility. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before your visit and we'll be happy to assist.

What languages can your staff communicate in?

Our team currently provides all briefings, game support, and customer service in English.

Is there a digital or physical waiver that guests complete on arrival?

Yes. All participants are required to complete a digital waiver before taking part in the experience. Instructions will be provided when you arrive.

What happens if a group arrives late — can they still do the full session?

Late arrivals can usually still participate; however, your game time may need to be shortened to avoid affecting subsequent bookings. If there is no booking immediately after your session, we may be able to provide the full experience. This cannot be guaranteed, so we recommend arriving at least 20 minutes before your scheduled start time.
